Miki Gaynor has always had a passion for storytelling through performance. As a child, playing pretend and bringing imaginary characters to life was one of her favorite games to share with her younger sister and cousins. What began as a playful way to express creativity grew into a lifelong love for embodying complex emotions, voices, and stories. In high school, Miki spent a short time exploring drama and theater, where she got her first taste of the stage. Her first adult acting role came a few years later at The Weekend Theater, where she appeared in a non-speaking role as one of the deceased townspeople in Our Town in 2009. Though life circumstances led her to step away from the stage for a while, the spark never faded.
In 2018, Miki returned to theater with renewed passion—and this time, she didn’t stop. Her first principal role was portraying Calpurnia in To Kill a Mockingbird at Argenta Community Theater. Since then, she has steadily built her presence in the Little Rock theater community, taking on a variety of roles and continuing to expand her craft as a performer.
For Miki, acting is more than performance—it’s an act of embodiment, connection, and storytelling that allows her to explore the depths of humanity and share those stories with others.
Over the years, Miki has brought a diverse range of characters to life on stage. Some of her notable roles include Truvie in Steel Magnolias, Papa Ge in Once on This Island, Celie in The Color Purple, Aunt Mama in Sugar in Their Wounds, and Lady in Red in For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide / When the Rainbow Is Enuf. She has also embraced storytelling for younger audiences, appearing as the Mother in Corduroy and in other beloved children’s theater productions. These roles represent only a glimpse into Miki’s growing body of work as an actor and storyteller.
